Bisexuelle beklagen auch heute noch zu Recht ihre «Unsichtbarkeit» in der LGBT-Community. Das Vorurteil, dass die Bisexualität nur eine Phase sei oder sie keine «richtigen» Lesben oder Schwule seien, sind auch heute noch präsent. Dadurch erfahren Bi’s nicht nur von ausserhalb, sondern auch innerhalb der Community eine bi-phobe Ausgrenzung.

It’s #BiWeek, so just as a reminder, I’m still bisexual and my sexuality is still 100% valid regardless of what someone else may think Yes, I am in a committed relationship with a straight/cis male, but that doesn’t change anydamnthing about my sexuality. I don’t talk about this very often because, as most bi+ people can confirm, it’s often mocked and ridiculed or dismissed entirely. It’s okay. I’m real and so are all of you. Happy BiWeek, y’all. ❤️ *takes a deep breath before hitting „Post“* Edit: For the record, I’d prefer not to call my sexuality anything specific (even ‚bisexual‘), which is why I often don’t regularly identify with any given sexuality. My attractions are fluid and specific to each individual, not a collection of set rules.

For #BiWeek, we are highlighting the stories and work of bi+ trailblazers like Lani Ka’ahumanu 💗💜💙 „As part of a BiPOL visibility action I registered with the DNC in 1984, and had a press conference in front of the convention center to announce I was running for Vice President of the USA. “Tippicanoe and Kaahumanu Too!” We held the first Bisexual Rights Rally on the city provided protest stage. Mondale ended up choosing Geraldine Ferraro. I founded the first feminist bisexual activist group BiPOL with six other bisexuals. We were visible, outspoken and encouraged bisexuals within the lesbian and gay community to come out. Many lesbian and gay people including community leaders came out to me privately as bisexual but never had my back. As a bisexual elder I am sad to say my and the older generation have not changed.“
